Deniliquin Hospital was a unit of the Murray (District) Health Service until March 1996 and then part of the Greater Murray Area Health Service. It was a 60 bed acute facility offering a broad range of level three services to a catchment population of approximately 15,000 people. Community Health Services based in Deniliquin, provided services to an area of approximately 77,000 square miles encompassing numerous towns and villages. Deniliquin Hospital (excluding community health) employed approximately 115 Full time equivalent staff. The role included the responsibilities of the Director of Nursing and operational management. The Hospital Manager was responsible for the overall management of the hospital including financial, human and material resources and the provision of clinical services based on negotiated targets.

Narrabri and Boggabri Health Services were part of Barwon District Health Service in the north west of NSW. Narrabri Hospital was a 41 bed acute hospital providing level 2/3 medical, surgical, paediatrics, obstetrics, slow stream rehabilitation and emergency services in addition to a comprehensive range of community based services and Blood Bank. Boggabri Hospital was a 13 bed community hospital providing acute medical, aged care and emergency services.The Health Service Manager role combined the traditional roles of Director of Nursing and Operation Management. The position involved the overall management of the health services including financial, human and material resources and the provision of clinical services.
