Covered local politics in Cameron County. This meant writing about how new policies impacted the region and, during elections, conveying what each candidate stood for. Produced story and video content daily under deadline. Also covered crime, features, and a few “national” stories.

Delegated stories and responsibilities to staff, oversaw the operations of the newsroom, provided guidance to page editors and reporters, and assisted clientele with advertisement queries. Also designed pages for the newspaper and copy-edited stories. In the fall, assisted with camerawork for football games.

Covered events in the Harlingen community, came up with enterprise stories for budget meetings, put together the police blotter and covered police department stories, and ran two budget meetings under the guidance of the editor-in-chief.

Wrote advances for upcoming events, engaged in staff meetings, and wrote many feature stories. Also assisted in copyediting stories and proofing pages.
