I have been blessed to have had a career in education that has been inspirational, gratifying and rich on so many levels. I have had the opportunity to teach English early on in my career before becoming a chairperson of the English Department. Shortly after becoming an English chair, I was given the responsibility of supervising the ENL Department and the Library and Media Arts Department. In addition to chairing these departments, I became the District English Coordinator. Within the next year or so, I was tasked to oversee the District Literacy Programs in the district, thereby adding to my title District Literacy Programs Coordinator. I oversaw such programs as READ 180, READ ABOUT and SYSTEM 44. After a number of years in these positions, I decided to advance my career and apply for an Assistant Principal position. In 2016, I became an Assistant Principal at Sewanhaka High School. I was then put in charge of the district's CTE Program. I became the "principal" of this school within a school. After a year, the district decided to move me into the main building because of the need for someone with curriculum expertise. I eventually oversaw the middle school teams, supervised safety and security, oversaw all the testing -- both Regents and middle school assessments and at the same time became the Master Scheduler for the building. In 2021, I was moved back to the building I started in at the onset of my career in Sewanhaka, New Hyde Park Memorial High School. There was a need for a third AP and the principal requested me to come back. Being back at NHP felt like home. I currently oversee middle school teams, oversee safety and security and chair both the Social and Emotional Wellness Committee and the DEI Committee. I am also in charge of Productivity for the building and coverages for the building. Being an AP for almost 8 years now, I am ready to move forward and make an even bigger impact as a principal. My undying work ethic, coupled with my extensive experience and a vivacious passion for my work make me a prime candidate for a principal's position, regardless of whether it's elementary school, middle school or high school. I am so very proud to be an educator, especially in today's climate where there is such a need for inspiration, good teaching, good leadership and HOPE.
