I am a retired Correctional Officer for the State of Connecticut. I worked in many different positions within the department. I was an officer assigned to the states super maximum facility. During my thirteen years there I held several positions to include working within the DeathRow unit. I was a gang officer in the gang unit and also assisted in gang intelligence investigation unit. I was a training instructor and conducted facility based training on emergency procedures. Later I became certified as a Behavior Management instructor and instructed on a department wide bases as need. The last five year of my twenty years with the department I was selected to be a member the Special Transportation Unit, which was a special weapons unit within the departments Central Transportation Unit. As a member of this unit we provide a special form high security transport for high risk, highly violent inmates who needed to be taken out into the community, we utilized department weapons and special tactics to complete these tasks. We also work alongside local, state and federal law enforcement.
