Being a student-athlete for four years at San Jose State University and Grand Canyon University has given me the opportunities to grow and mature. The constant rigorous schedule that comes with balancing an athletic career and an education has introduced several life skills that will be implemented for the rest of my life. Topics such as time management, motivation, commitment, social skills, and prioritizing are some skills that I take pride in. I have had jobs in labor previously, including construction for three summers, but being a student-athlete has benefited towards a career path because of the skills I have obtained through the stern discipline that has been given. The skills of motivation and dedicated are ones I have noticed influence my work ethic in academics and athletics. Learning to dedicated and devote yourself into any tasks that are handed give greater outcomes compared to going through the motions. Committing yourself towards tasks and treating them with authority has been my greatest key to success. This tying into being able to prioritize tasks throughout the span of assignment. Knowing ones that will take my time, determining which ones are more strenuous, comparing them to ones that will be less time consuming and simpler objectives to meet. Prioritizing these tasks comes with time management skills. Within the past four years, I have treated my athletic career as a job. With practice, rehab, weights training, and games on top of a schedule consisting of sixteen or more credits, to be successful you need time management skills. Baseball scheduling with weights at six in the morning, followed by class from seven to noon, which transitioned to practice and rehab going from two in the afternoon to five, it related to hours in the work force. This is not including the extra work that consisted of homework, studying, yoga, and other baseball activities. I have always put extra work and devoted myself to the tasks I have at hand. I want to represent the brand I am dedicating myself to, and this dedication, work ethic, and passion I put towards the tasks better myself. Therefore, bettering the brand.
