MSouth Capital is a portfolio company of MSouth Equity Partners. We are focused on providing flexible capital to companies based primarily in the South with EBITDA of greater than $3 million. MSouth Capital can directly provide up to $30 million per transaction, and substantially more with our network of partners. We will often be the first institutional capital and can provide flexible financing solutions ranging from senior secured debt to minority equity positions. While we are open to providing the entire debt portion of the capital structure, we are open to partnering with other capital providers.

Provided capital structure and financing assistance to middle market companies, as well as portfolio management assistance to middle market focused investment firms. Illustrative projects include the renegotiation of seller notes at a substantial discount, loan renegotiation, the evaluation of company viability and the workout/supervised sale of a lender's portfolio company.

Washington D.C. Metro Area

I led the Ares Mgmt office in Washington, DC, after the acquisition of Allied Capital. In addition to establishing a successful business development effort in the Mid-Atlantic, Southeast and Texas, I spent a considerable amount of time managing a $300 million portfolio (FMV) of legacy Allied Capital debt and equity investments across 15 companies. This portfolio was successfully turned with exceptional outcomes.

Served as a senior investment professional in the Washington, DC, headquarters. Accumulated a successful investment track record which is supported by an attribution letter (IRR > 20%). Updated for post-acquisition activity, the IRR was over 20% and the MOIC was approximately 1.5x (one remaining escrow is outstanding).Led a team that managed a portfolio that reached $1 billion across 24 credits, including several control equity investments. Served on many Boards of Directors, several times as the Chairman. Experienced large capital gains on several equity investments.Served as the Credit Committee Chairman for five Allied Capital Senior Debt CLOs, which consisted of five vehicles. The funds performed well and were smoothly integrated into the Ares platform.

Dallas/Fort Worth Area

As a member of the Section 20 company for Bank One (the investment banking subsidiary), I worked with the loan officers in the Southwest (TX, OK, LA) region to identify investment banking opportunities in their customer base. The primary product focus in that role was structuring and executing loan syndications, identifying private placement opportunities, as well as soliciting M&A transactions.

Dallas/Fort Worth Area

I started my career by completing the credit training program at NationsBank of Texas and becoming a middle-market relationship manager in the Dallas-Ft. Worth market. I went on to manage a middle market lending team and was among the youngest SVPs at the bank when promoted in 1995.
