For over a decade, I have studied the business models of martech and advertising agencies in Africa, and I believe we are on the cusp of a revolution. This revolution, spearheaded by generations Y and Z - specifically entrepreneurs in the digital entertainment and online retail sub-sectors - is already changing how consumers relate to brands. In response, I developed a fork strategy to leverage this trend effectively. Taking some time off from the daily advertising grind, I launched a Trend and Intelligence platform. TINK provides marketers with cultural insights underlying big data and traditional research, online trend briefings, market intelligence, and in-depth case studies on local brands and businesses championing creativity and innovation within the African continent.Next, I started consulting for marketers on emerging trends and pop culture phenomena, which guide the development of new products, services, and platforms. This approach is very instructive as my work with clients embraces the principles of design thinking, marketing innovation, and human behavior. This is a far departure from the traditional agency world where the norm is to rely on advertising as a panacea for solving business and marketing problems. Now, I have gone beyond teaching and mentoring next-generation creative minds at Orange Academy ("Africa's Miami Ad School") and 02 Academy - both reputable schools of branding and advertising in Nigeria - to being in the trenches with like-minds by launching a Strategy and Innovation training establishment called 'Bschool' (www.bschoolschoolafrica.com).As we co-design the future together, I also get to experience firsthand, the evolution of African creativity and commerce, and the future of "networked advertising" as it occurs."If you want to out-innovate the competition, you first have to out-learn it." - Marty Neumeier, The Designful Company#LetsTalkStrategy💯%

Strategic Planning DirectorLeo Burnett Jul 2016 - Dec 2017LagosMy very good friend and senior colleague, Sam Osunsoko, lured me back into advertising in June 2016. I was immersed in building a consumer intelligence platform, TINK, and wasn't feeling like doing the same 'ol stuff over and over again. On second thoughts, I decided to see how I could harness the global might of one of the most renowned global creative agency brands in the world (@Leo Burnett), and by extension, its holding company - Publicis Groupe - to renew my excitement in the future of advertising, and to help design a way forward for the Nigerian marketing communication landscape.Truly, I must admit that it has been a wow experience thus far. In less than 6 months of rejoining the Publicis Nigeria family, and with access to over 4,000+ marketing case studies, planning tools, creativity blueprints, research, and insights planning frameworks, my little-sized planning team kind of caused chaos within the industry. Leo Burnett was less than 18 months, and we were already the agency to beat in strategic planning, creativity, and return on investment for clients. In 2017, Leo Burnett Lagos was one of the most awarded agencies in Nigeria (and rated Top 4 by Lagos Advertising & Ideas Festival [LAIF]) based on the effectiveness of our campaigns for clients within the period in question - Konga ("Happiness #FoundonKonga", and Heritage Bank "IamProudOfMyHeritage - The New Kings & Queens of Africa", - that epitomized our HumanKind approach. We also amassed a bucketload of prestigious A-list clientele after multiple and one-on-one shootouts with other leading ad agencies. Our aggressive business drive won us top brands like Leadway Assurance, Chi Foods, Jac Motors, Crusader Sterling Pensions, and World Bank/IFC.http://leoburnett.com -
