Responsible for building team communications, processes and procedures for a team that has been without a manager for over 6 months. Built a collaborative culture and documenting necessary processes and procedures.Managed 7 team members that design, implement, upgrade and maintain UNR network with 10Gbs core and Internet connection. Team managed over 1000 network devices in a multi tier environment with security ranging from very open research LAN to very strict limited level access to private cloud of apps to support the medical clinics. These environments comply with FERPA, HIPAA, FIPS 140-2, PPACA and UNR security policies and standards. Responsible for University of Nevada medical school network and security statewide. Consisting of UNR campus locations and over 15 clinics in Reno and Las Vegas.

Established team culture that focused on customer service, improved redundancies and failovers, improved efficiencies and processes on a minimal budget designed to prep the company for sale. This team was responsible for design, development and maintenance of the production, test, and operational systems to support 80 employees and over 800 customers in SaaS environment. Team managed 2 datacenters that utilized 170Mbs outbound bandwidth, multiple SAN’s, multiple DAS’s, 100+ servers and all supporting systems.Brought our SaaS services up to a 99.99% uptime rating from 94% (estimation).Led team in moving all services to primary world class data center without customer downtime and implementing and migrating 26,000+ email customers to new enterprise collaborative solution with minimal downtime.

Successfully led 18 staff to support all IT systems functions for the department and state information system (150+ employees, 12 concurrent IT projects, 4 separate sites, and many data collections). Led numerous software development efforts and earned a solid reputation for delivering quality solutions on time, within scope and under budget. Responsible for project and program activities for SAIN (Nevada’s state student information system/data warehouse). Including nightly data collections from all schools, longitudinal transactional database, reporting data warehouse with analysis cubes, business intelligence tools and ad-hoc query interfaces. Portal is made up of 30+ sites, single sign on custom security model, role based differentiated access and public access. Hardware infrastructure involves load balanced application cluster and fail over database cluster built on tight security specifications which involves 3 security tiers. System is used by over 150 Nevada employees, and staff at schools and districts in the State of Nevada.Manage state and federal budgets exceeding $6M annually.

Responsible for documenting customer requirements, researching/testing, resolution options and working with development on issue resolution and software release.Responsible for the collection, compilation, analysis and recommendation of functional/performance data. Successfully built entire IT department including 4 full-time and 16 part time staff members. Department covered 16 sites (schools/district offices), 1200 workstations, 600 staff members, 24 servers and large WAN/LAN. Planned, installed, implemented and maintained PowerSchool student information system. Resulting effort increased productivity, efficiency, accuracy and improved communication between all stakeholders.Responsible for all IT functions including designing, procuring, installing and maintaining all infrastructure, hardware and software for all systems for all schools and district office.Teacher, coach and technical rep – Taught various business and computer classes.
