Launched three new products on Cyberlife by writing code collaboratively with two other team members. Ensured product quality by communicating with testers, actuaries and users and following up on reported defects. Solved complex problems with policy values and functionality in a 5.4 million line code base.• Accelerated unit testing and data generation on three new product implementations by utilizing Python, VBA, Excel spreadsheets, Mercury QTP, REXX and JCL to create a semi-automated test case generator.• Increased the quality of the newest product implementation by working with Mercury QTP scripters to develop a quality control process that helped compare policy values with actuarial expected results.

Maintained Cyberlife, a policy administration system, with over 3.4 million insurance and annuity policies. Created, maintained and evangelized REXX scripts to increase programmer productivity. Participated in an intensive three month training program learning MVS Assembler, JCL and COBOL.• Saved the company 24 programmer hours per week / $93,000 per year by creating a REXX script to expedite test job creation. • Minimized the need for manual corrections of 750 mailing addresses by fuzzy matching the user input with stored data. This was achieved by adapting a C++ implementation of the Levensthtein distance algorithm found on the web into a C module called from COBOL.• Organized and hosted “Productivity with Scripting” training class with another programmer to promote the use of scripts to save time for mainframe programmers.

Supported 60 remote & 20 on-site customers with Windows 98/2000/XP machines (29 remote locations). Maintained two Windows Server 2003 servers and one IBM iSeries 5 server. Organized and generated documentation and databases for future reference and ease of use.• Developed a corporate website utilizing XHTML and CSS for layout and text formatting. Stored property data in a MS Access database and generated XHTML and JavaScript with VB Script. Used the XHTML and JavaScript to display the property data on an embedded map using the Google maps API. Unfortunately, the website has since been replaced.• Ported an outdated FoxPro database application to a Microsoft Access 2000 application increasing user friendliness in the process.• Migrated two Windows NT 4.0 Servers to Windows Server 2003.
