As a systems engineer, it's my role to ensure systems are operational, from Data center maintenance to monitoring and resolving critical alerts that require immediate attention or escalations, using a plethora of different technologies.Requires deep understanding of the OSI model and an understanding of complex network topologies and how to troubleshoot them.

As a PC Technician Assistant in this role, my responsibilities were shared with my peer who was a senior technician with 30+ years experience, the responsibilities consisted of three main categories.IT: Provide support and technical assistance for all company IT related issues, from fixing printers to troubleshooting and resolving network wide outages, within SLA to minimise any potential service loss.Contracts: Provision and provide repair for industrial NUCs, routers and embedded touchscreen computers, as well as provisioning their respective operating systems. Done within SLA to achieve contractual obligations.Commericial: Provide a refurbishment service for each redeemable unit of stock obtained from local schools, universities and councils, and provide secure data erasure or Disk destruction service, then loading a new Operating system onto the system, to be sold on.I personally found commercial to be my favourite category to work in as I could liase with customers and the software used for secure erasure was MoD grade and would wipe all client drives from a PXE server, wiping 30+ HDDs concurrently, I also learned how to deep clean computers to restore them even in their worst states, it was a very practical element of the role, but required ingenuity and creativity to solve these issues.This was the kickstart of my career and I enjoyed my time spent here, but at the end of the 6 month contract, however I wanted to progress to a job that was more relative to my degree so I moved on.
