Blackdown Hills AONB

Following the success of the first piece of work I was invited to run a follow up project focused on expanding the study area and developing a framework for guiding land management decision making. This project set out to: - Expand and strengthen the data set by widening the study area to the whole of the AONB - Trial an innovative methodology for.

Blackdown Hills Somerset/Devon

The purpose of this project was to understand the capacity of different soils, commonly found in the Blackdown Hills landscape, to store carbon and to explore how this is affected by land use. This was an exciting challenge, and a brilliant project to manage, as it focused on practicality and how this information could be used to develop guidance to aid.

The Neroche Woodlanders operate a 100 acre site consisting of ancient woodland and wildflower meadow on the Blackdown Hills AONB. Volunteering here I have gained practical land management experience, carrying out tasks such as brush cutting and ride side management, whilst also engaging with the local community and building relationships with other.

Employed on a fixed term contract working in the CLA’s land use team researching policy areas such as sustainable agriculture, the Environmental Land Management Scheme and carbon markets.I worked on the CLA’s Incentivising Sustainable Farming and Forestry Test and Trial. As the primary point of contact for this project, I planned and chaired 11 focus.
