Influence building a culture whose bottom line is “one time though” throughout MSD.Insure improvement in the area of Quality Assurance; and support and audit all of MSD’s systems, manufacturing processes, and products.Focus on monitoring, improving, and auditing the manufacturing and repair processes and other products with regard to Quality Control.Develop Quality Management System to direct and control MSD, and includes the following:o Instill product knowledge among all employees.o Develop document control procedures that dictate methods to document all Quality Assurance systems.o Ensure that final inspection assures delivery of a quality product, and the results of final inspection will be a quality record.o Implement a calibration program that assures the measurement equipment used throughout MSD complies with written expected tolerances.o Implement traceability systems that document methods for tracking the finished product through the raw materials.o Develop a corrective action program to address customer concerns, issues, or complaints.o Put a non-conforming material control program in place that instructs employees on the correct methods to identify defective material.o Build a Quality organization with clearly defined roles and responsibilities, process interactions, and lines of communications throughout MSD.o Develop a valid and stable Quality Manual. This key instruction provides continuity of operations and stabilizes the MSD QA system. This manual provides the QA code, and should be developed to prevent the unwanted practice of individual management decisions.

The Assistant Quality Assurance Manager- Audits, Surveillance, and Evaluation reports directly to the Quality Assurance Manager for the performance of his/her duties. In the absence of the Quality Assurance Manager, he/she will report to the Assistant Quality Assurance Manager-Operations. These responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 1. Coordinate training on performance of audits, surveillance, and evaluations for personnel requiring training (i.e., managers, supervisors, other personnel assigned to perform). 2. Provide monthly (minimum) reports to the Vice President and General Manager of Marine Services, via the QAM and SUBSAFE Program Director/Deputy SUBSAFE Program Director on the status of scheduled audits, surveillance, evaluation, and corrective actions. 3. Prepare and, update as necessary, an annual written AS&E schedule with the assistance of the QAM and SSPD/DSSPD. Maintain an auditable record of all completed audits, surveillances, evaluations, trend analyses, assessments and all related reports of corrective action.4. Maintain a file of fact-findings, formal critiques, and trouble reports. Document any trends in minor or major deficiencies on a Corrective Action Request Form, when required. 5. Performing, when required, the duties of a QAR as listed in the QA Representative Position Description.6. Performing, when required, the duties of the Assistant Quality Assurance Manager-Operations in his/her absent.Formulating through original independent thinking, methods and processes, which will increase safety, quality and production, or decrease costs. Working closely with the QA Manager to maintain a positive profit center in support of the company. Reporting the department’s activities and monitor operations to plan and profitability guidelines
