Managing the Health and Safety aspects of the Construction Phase of a large project at Saosa Tea Factory

Managing Company Health Safety and Sustainability matters. Providing advice /guidance on various policy issues on safety and environment to various levels of management and employees. Represents the company in various forums/ meetings relating to safety and environment issues. Managed the Company’s road safety programme. Have been involved in training employees at various cadres on various health, safety and environmental matters. Has developed and revised various health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and documents in line with best practices and legislations. Has been involved in training or providing guidance on various safety and environment related documents to different levels of staff. Carried out successful environmental audits in line with legal requirements. Have been involved in accident investigation process for serious accidents / incidents or near misses whenever they have occurred. Ensure compliance with various legal requirements on safety & environment. Has managed the company’s sustainability data by carrying out data collation and analysis to aid in decision making

As a Farm manager my responsibilities among others included handling employee welfare issues, grievances / disciplinary cases, recruitment, training and development, production related issues, farm maintenance, Environment, Health and Safety issues, security issues, general administrative issues, approval of purchases to the purchasing unit, and managing of costs within the farm. I also dealt with the company’s innovation products / crops within Naivasha region. Was greatly involved in all audits including internal environmental audits. Was also part of the company’s internal audit team auditing on various codes of practices. Was a member of Flamingo Farm Health and safety committee for over four years and served the committee mostly as the Chair.

As a Technical Assistant: I was in charge of crop protection, nutrition and personnel issues in the department. Was responsible for managing of chemical and fertilizer costs within the department through proper planning to avoid unnecessary wastages.If handlied employee disciplinary issues and adviced the Human Resource manager accordingly. Was greatly involved in employee trainings to address training needs.
