Implemented core features for Acrobat Shared Cloud Engineering:Aug-2011:Developed and drove to Production new Shared Cloud Services for Acrobat.com:CombinePDF and PDF2Image using Amazon Web Services (AWS), the WebApp Server,the Client Web Server GUI layer, and Python Regression Test Suites. The back-end services were in Java with embedded C++ libraries. The WebApp Server wasin Python and the Client layer was in JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.

Implemented core features for Acrobat 10 Production Engineering:Jan-2009:Led Acrobat Distiller Server development to its release (v9.0) in Feb 2009.Added VMware based Web Content test servers for Acrobat updater testing.Implemented support for the Visual Studio Symbol Server in Acrobat 10.Implemented the Code Signing Framework for Acrobat 10 for Win and Mac.

Implemented core features and optimizations in Acrobat and Distiller Server:Dec-2006:Led Acrobat Distiller Server development to its release (v8.0) in Sep 2007.Designed and implemented parallel distillation (multi-core support) inDistiller v9. Worked on performance improvements in Acrobat Distiller Server.Apr-2004:Led Acrobat Distiller Server development to its release (v7.0) in Sep 2005.Designed and implemented many new features and optimizations in DistillerServer: Plug-in Architecture, Conversion of sampled images to use Indexedcolor space, Hash machinery for faster lookup of duplicate image resources,image re-compression strategies for PDF file size reduction, "Path Optimizer"for AutoCAD PDF file size reduction and increased Acrobat Viewer performance.Apr-2001:Led Acrobat Distiller Server development to its release (v6.0) in Nov 2003.Worked on speedup and PDF file size optimizations in Acrobat DistillerServer. Also designed and implemented numerous new features: Support forJPEG2000 image compression, PDF security options, Encryption of PDF files,Watched Folder functionality providing true server scalability, re-design ofthe image compression framework (flate, jpeg, jp2k), framework for mergingadjacent images for speedup and reduced PDF file size. Implemented core features in the PostScript Extreme Workflow System:Mar-1997:Designed the OEM engine API. Implemented support for async abort of rasterjobs. Solved issues for multi threading, race conditions, and deadlocks.Implemented support for multiple RIPs per engine. Added ability to separateraster data into its colorant components. Designed shared memory transportlayer allowing the RIP and the Engine to transfer raster data via sharedmemory rather than TCP/IP. Enhanced the shared memory transport to supporttransport between arbitrary processes. Enhanced the RIP/engine handshakeprotocol to eliminate unnecessary mapping of memory segments and allow re-useof one segment for multiple bands.

Implemented core features in the Display PostScript System:Mar-1995:Engineering Manager & Technical Lead - Setting technical direction for DPSdevelopment. Delivered final release of DPS to DEC, SGI, SUN, NeXT. Workedwith OEMs on unifying font and resources across platforms. Added X11 visualand colormap controls to the PostScript Previewer. Worked with OEM businessmanagers on OEM contracts. Staffed up the DPS group to a 3-person team.Supervised onsite DEC engineer during the port of DEC's DPS system to VMS.Upgraded Apple's NextStep to be PostScript-3 compliant.Mar-1990:Computer Scientist - OEM engineering support for IBM for Display PostScript(DPS) for X11 and NextStep for the RS/6000. Implemented OSF/Motif PostScriptPreviewer for SGI. Delivered DPS releases to IBM. Implemented code to supportcolor-cubes, gray-ramps and halftone control. Made the PostScript PreviewerMotif compliant. Implemented "gray mask" and "constant mask" speedups forDPS. Re-designed the image pipeline for DPS for speeding up gray images.Ported the PostScript Interpreter and DPS to 64 bit for DEC/Alpha. Fixedre-entrancy problem in the Interpreter. Implemented speedups for re-opening,scaling, and rotating files. Delivered Previewer to SGI, DEC, IBM, and SUN.Prioritized and scheduled all work in the DPS group. Eliminated need for DPSmodification in the OEM's X11-server build trees. Streamlined interfacebetween DPS and the X server by using Block & Wakeup handler flow control.

Headed the Plot & Hardcopy Group (3 people) in converting Daisy's CAE appsto run on UNIX and X Windows. Developed a unified plotting system for CAEapplications supporting electrostatic, pen, raster, thermal transfer, laserdevices. Implemented performance enhancements for the graphic subsystem:fixed numerical inaccuracies, speedups for arcs, circles, pies, icons,ellipses, and "stroketext". Implemented Xlib extension for downloading agrid for speedup of drag, snap, and redraw. Implemented object rejection(clipping). Implemented fast versions of polygon routines for convex shapes.Implemented "point-collapsing" to speed up drawing.

Designed, implemented remote communication tasks for a Logic Analyzer: GPIB/RS232 drivers, interrupt handlers, DMA handshake protocols, and a remotecontrol language for the Analyzer. Worked on Realtime Multitask O.S. for aLogic Analyzer, Implemented scheduler for task creation, communication,real-time clock, device drivers. Headed 3-person team, porting a LogicAnalyzer OS to a new high performance Logic Analyzer. Included coordinatingproduct introduction with sales & marketing depts.

Member of 80286 design team, implemented 80286 simulator for Series-III DevSystems. It was a software implementation of the chip set (80286+80287) plusmonitor, debugger tools, kernel and file I/O. Implemented Email system forIntel's Networked Development System (NDS-II).

Implemented 8085-based system for handling incoming calls to a TelephoneExchange. Included design of CPU board, Analog I/O board, RS-232C interfaceand all system software. Headed 3-person team for designing multiprocessorsystem (6 8085's) for Telephone Exchange traffic analysis. Designed dataacquisition 8085 board with 64K DRAM, Timers,... etc.

Designed & built 1KW power converter for bench tests of Avionics Equipmentand Navigation/Autoland computers on DC-9. Conducted Technical IncidentInvestigations for DC-8 fire warning systems.
