During my tenure at Sonoma State University, I was promoted through a series of assignments from that of a Student Program Assistant, through Associate Dean of Students, and, before I opened my private law practice, Assistant to the University’s President/Judicial Affairs.☛ Assistant to the President/Judicial Affairs (1980-1984): In this position, I reported directly to the University’s President exercising and a high degree of initiative in the performance of my duties. I provided direction and support for compliance with laws, regulations, and human resource policies. In addition, I directly interfaced with Campus Managers, Staff, Faculty, Labor Representatives, University Legal Counsel, Academic Personnel, Human Resources Staff, as well as individuals at the California State University (CSU) Office of the General Counsel, other campuses within the CSU, Deputy Attorney Generals, State of California; and external compliance and investigatory entities, agencies, and individuals.☛ Associate Dean (Students/Judicial Affairs Officer (1977-1980): While serving as Associate Dean of Students, I developed, along with the Dean of Students and the University’s Director of Human Resources, what would later develop into the Assistant to the President/Judicial Affairs position. In addition to my duties as Associate Dean of Students, I assumed responsibility for the investigation of complaints regarding staff, faculty and student misconduct; responsibility for the serving as the University’s representative at grievances and disciplinary actions; and, the University’s representative the California State University (CSU) Office of the General Counsel; attorneys assigned to the campus by the Office of the Attorney General, State of California; and external entities, agencies, and individuals, such as representatives of FEHA, EEOC, OFCCP, and U.S. Department of Education.
