During my PhD I was trying to enhance a set of neural probes used for listening and talking to brain cells. I worked with this in several different ways:• Surface modification of electrodes - Platinum Black, Platinum Gray and PEDOT - to increase the SNR and longevity of the the electrode surfaces• Replacing the carrier polymer to a new material, OSTE+, that I developed from being used in microfluidic devices to be used in neural probes. This to decrease the encapsulation of the probe.• Planning & Performing in vitro and in vivo biocompatibility tests of OSTE+

Research position where I further developed the work done in my master’s thesis. I continued to develop a conductive polymer (PEDOT) to be used on neural probes. I also worked on to transfer another surface coating, platinum black, from test samples so that it could be used on neural probes.
