About David Freid

David Freid is an executive producer, director, and journalist who has contributed to The Atlantic, The New York Times, National Geographic, NBC and Vanity Fair, among others. He was the lead creative of MEL Films, where he further honed his unique approach of finding humor and humanity in surprising places (filmed in over 30 countries). Those films went on to win the International Documentary Association (IDA) award for Best Documentary Series, an Edward R. Murrow Award for journalism, and he was nominated for an Emmy for "Guns Found Here”. His films have amassed millions of organic views online, and have played and won at festivals around the world, including SXSW, DOC NYC, Tribeca and Cannes. David has since gone on to direct multiple national commercials, one of which aired during the Super Bowl, and he has been the showrunner and director for series available on NBC's Peacock and HBO Max. David is currently in development on multiple television series.
