About David French

With 25 years of high-profile experience guiding iconic brands including MTV, America's national parks, and the cultural epicenter of Memphis, Tennessee, I am a marketing, communications and fundraising leader on a mission. I believe in the power brand, communications and marketing can have in creating cultural impact and positive change. That belief is validated by my record of orchestrating highly successful data-driven brand strategies, powering grassroots movements especially among Millennial and Gen-Z audiences, leading multimillion dollar fundraising growth, attaining top-tier and influential media coverage, embracing new platforms and technologies, and producing high-profile televised events. Most importantly, I thrive on building diverse, fast-paced and productive teams that achieve success individually and collectively. Currently, I proudly serve as President & Chief Marketing Officer of Memphis Brand, a first of its kind non-profit serving the iconic cultural epicenter of Memphis. Built from the ground up with a focus on driving visibility, inclusivity and opportunity for all, Memphis Brand uniquely leverages marketing and communications to drive the entire Memphis ecosystem -- elevating diverse talent, economic growth, visitation and civic pride. Prior to this role, I served as Interim CEO and Senior Vice President, Marketing, Communications & Corporate Partnerships at the National Park Foundation where I was responsible for overseeing strategic brand development and key fundraising. Notably, I led the “Find Your Park/Encuentra Tu Parque” campaign for the National Park Service, credited with introducing a new generation to the parks movement while driving volunteerism, park visitation and fundraising to all-time highs. Previously, I was Vice President, Communications for MTV, where I directed the network’s day-to-day communications spanning programming, events, sales, partnerships, social media, digital, research and pro-social campaigns including "Choose or Lose," "Fight For Your Rights," and "Break the Addiction," along with notable programming including the "Video Music Awards," "TRL," "Pimp My Ride" and "Punk'd" among others.
