The path to this point hasn't been exactly traditional, but certain themes do unify bike mechanics, service department managers, regional managers, kung fu instructors, and whatever you call the person who builds the process and tools for a brand new thing and inspires the teams of creative folks that get the job done at scale. The thread running through the core of all these experiences is the belief that every skill and every process can be improved through iteration and examination, and that every person has the capacity to surpass themselves with effort and practice. Whether applied to building a bicycle wheel or a makeshift MRP system, teaching a repair class to new riders or a new process to a continent-wide team, or just practicing yin yang palms for the 10,000th time, this approach has resulted in solid foundations and happy, fulfilled teams.
