Head IoT Objects and Platforms Research Unit. The unit studies novel and sustainable solutions to define wireless self-powered IoT smart objects able to efficiently exploit the limited energy resources available and to support pervasive location awareness, with a main focus on indoor environments. In this scope, the unit is focused on two main research topics, namely Energy Harvesting and Management and Indoor Radiofrequency Localization. The unit will also look at new research challenges in the field of Wearables and Autonomous Drones Navigation.

During the first two years he studied and designed algorithms for channel coding (LDPC, Turbo Codes). After that, he acquired lots of experiences in the field of WSNs (Wireless Sensor Networks). In particular, he has developed different applications based on the ZigBee protocol such as, an automatic meter reading system (AMR), a real-time shelf occupancy monitoring system (logistic), tracking and monitoring systems for indoors (logistic), and a real-time engine parameters monitoring system (automotive). His current research activities focus on the design of hybrid and cooperative positioning algorithms using UWB/WSN and GNSS. These activities include algorithm design, implementation and performance verification both via simulations and experimental field measurement.
