Frugaldom came about as a result of NYK Media, which was first established in 1997 as a small business services provider, Internet café and publishing company. I wanted to support writers, artists and crafters, and to provide an affordable sales and marketing platform for their combined works. The long term goal was to develop a central hub to practice and develop our skills within a natural environment, operating as a self-sustainable project based on social enterprise, rather than hard, profit driven business.Having gone through all the other options, the best description I can find is that NYK is a micro think tank that tries out some pretty crazy ideas to discover which can be developed to further enhance the lives of all who care to be involved. Whether it's farming fruit, planting trees, writing poetry, creating environmental art, trading in cyberdosh or launching a new Scottish Lottery, frugaldom is about sustainability, environmental awareness, nature and the freedom to explore possibilities.
