♛ My name is Michael Funaro and I'm the "Godfather” of sports Fast Facts. In my 25+ years at National Sports Services (NSS) in Las Vegas, NV, I have been privileged to combine my passion for sports with my education in Computer Science and Mathematics. ✺ “That's like bringing a guy up from the minors to pitch the World Series.” ✺My initial design and development of Fast Facts Stats was in 1987 for the Las Vegas Review Journal and it was called, "Pitcher Fast Facts." It was an easy to read and understand report that appeared under the daily baseball standings. This file would eventually be picked-up and distributed to over 75 newspapers across the USA and Canada by Gannett News. A digital version of the file was widely disseminated to customers by America Online (AOL) and SportsTicker (now owned by ESPN). I would go on to design the first ever “Home Plate Umpire Fast Facts” that gave bettors an insight into how umpires called games when behind the plate. Eventually Fast Fact files would be created for the NBA, College Basketball, NFL and College Football. As personal computers and the Internet became commonplace in businesses and homes, the print editions would give way to totally digital versions which can always be found on our company website.✺ "Leave the gun, take the Cannoli" ✺Now, some 20+ years later, my role is that of Web Administrator for NSS where I am currently overseeing the merging and redesign of our company websites. I continue to design and program predictive sports software and logical data modeling, one of which helped me win the 2010 Station Casinos Gambler's Football Challenge mini contest in 2009. I am always looking for the next big predictive algorithm.
