As a former journalist with BBC Scotland, I am passionate about the role of effective communications in shaping society for good. In my current work with Amnesty International, I champion human rights through strategic public relations and media engagement. In previous roles, I have combined my experience in academia with my journalism skills to advance the practice of science communication both in Aotearoa and around the world. In my "free" time, I'm a writer and a personal stylist. With a background in public health nutrition and a personal interest in clothing, I am particularly curious about the ways in which food and fashion can empower us to live with dignity. I volunteer with the Wellington-based charity Yes for Success, and am a new columnist for the NZ lifestyle magazines Ensemble and Your Weekend.
