About Frank Schmitz
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Team player with profound knowledge in Medicine, Immunology and Systems BiologyUnique mind- and skillset to efficiently define, communicate, and solve scientific and translational medicine problems----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I am a MD/PhD with 15 years of experience in basic and translational immunological research and systems biology. I have worked on several DFG and NIH funded projects and have published over 25 peer reviewed papers and reviews (first-, last-, and co-authored).Currently I am working as Senior Researcher at Seattle BioMed (Aderem Lab), where I am using systems biology approaches to understand the details of Toll-like receptor mediated signal transduction and its cross-talk with essential cellular functions. I am using experimental techniques (transcriptomics, proteomics, retro- and lentviral transgenesis, biochemical and functional assays) as well as computational analyses thereof (statistics, machine-learning, network analysis) to identify key molecules that can be targeted therapeutically.Colleagues and collaborators know me as highly creative scientist who can always be trusted to come up with solutions, analytical thinking, critical analyses and putting the detail into 'the big picture'. I enjoy working with people from different disciplines, communicating results and discussing hypotheses.Specialities: infectious diseases, medicine, basic and clinical immunology, transgenesis, systems analysis of complex processes, computational biology, synthetic biology, teachingResearch Gate: http://www.researchgate.net/profile/Frank_Schmitz
