Fast paced environment. Working in a switchboard environment handling calls in-bound and out-bound from DVH (Darent Valley Hospital) along with maintenance and patient portering requests.My duties included but were not limited to:• Handling all types of inquiries and queries over the phone or via email.• Managing and maintaining an emergency schedule "EOC".• Emergency support - Code Red/Blue (Red = Medical Emergency / Blue = Maternity Emergency)• Cisco systems in-house switch software, Porter Tracker, and MS Office Suite.• Hub/Switch telephony support to Manager - re-routing cabling, wiring for new lines or malfunctioning telephony equipment.• Occasional porter support to Charge-Hands.• Logging maintenance requests for on-site Engineers and Electricians• Shift-work based over three shifts (6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm & 10pm-6am)

Special constables have the same powers as regular officers, are crucial to providing an extra police presence and provide added support.Joining as a special gave me an opportunity to put something back into the community on a voluntary basis. I worked alongside my full-time job at DVH, and so, the role required a great deal of commitment and motivation.The key functions of a special include patrolling the streets and supporting the work of police officers on duty; policing local events; assisting police officers at road traffic incidents; raising awareness of Force initiatives and campaigns; and liaising with local schools and colleges to promote crime prevention.Through ongoing police training and experience on the streets, I developed key skills that stand me in good stead for life. You need to quick-thinking team player and able to resolve disputes with tact, as well as developing the ability to cope with the unexpected and stay calm in a crisis.
