Supporting children within school and residential settings.

Working with children between the ages of 7 and 18 who have had previous childhood trauma. Supporting them to make sensible decisions and helping them to develop independent skills.

Bank support worker, supporting the company to cover needed hours at different services across Tyne and Wear. Working with a mixture of clients such as Learning Disabilities, Autism, Mental Health and Homeless.

Working with vulnerable adults who are at risk of homelessness and living with substance abuse alongside having mental health issues. Ensuring that they are living in a safe environment and effectively dealing with and preventing crisis situations such as overdose, self-harm and/or suicide attempts.

Leading a small team of befrienders to support a number of service users to live independently. The support offered ranged from simply giving company during lonely periods to supporting the individual to do their weekly shop.

Managing a diverse team who support service users within a mental health supported living apartment block.Responsibilities:Ensuring all paperwork is correctly up to company standards, dealing directly with outside professionals regarding service users and helping staff members receive the correct training as and when required. I also managed monthly rotas in this role.

Block of specialist apartments that are specifically designed to support those with mental health problems to live an independent life. Responsibilities: I worked with clients who lived in the apartment complex that were living with a range of mental health issues, such as; paranoid schizophrenia, reactive attachment disorder, self harming, post traumatic stress disorder, borderline personality disorder, bi-polar disorder and some were on the autism spectrum. Some of the people I worked with have been involved with the criminal justice system and some of them have been people who have been victims of serious crimes. In this role I often dealt directly with Social workers, Community Psychiatric Nurses, Local Police and the Community Mental Health Team alongside other professionals regarding the needs of the clients. I had to use a person centered approach at all times while supporting clients to appointments and encouraging independent living whenever possible. I had to also update their daily report as and when the client had done anything with myself or another member of staff. I was also responsible for updating support plans as and when the needs of a client had changed. I was also responsible for giving out medication in this role. Skills Used: Good Communication skills were vital, being calm at all times and understanding is a key asset to the role while also having a good sense of humor.

Dementia Specialist home which also accepted some residents with mental health such as Schizophrenia and Bipolar disorder. Responsibilities: Helping residents keep their independence while also assisting in all areas of their daily needs such as bathing, ensuring they are dressed accordingly, they are eating and drinking along with preventing accidents by using the correct equipment for the correct resident. I also work some night shifts for this company which is mainly ensuring all residents are dry and comfortable throughout the night and assisting them with any care needs they may have.

Assisting teachers within schools as a teaching assistant. I was mainly working with pupils who were dealing with Autism, Behavioral Emotional and Social Difficulties as well as Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities.
