I’ve loved elegant systems my whole life. It started in kindergarten when I would spend hours and hours optimizing the distance between refuelling stations for my toy train set. Although this was good preparation for graph theory, it did not make me the most popular kid in school…It seems like a silly example, but it was that innate love of optimization was what made me fall in love with programming. Being able to code gives me an infinite canvas where I can create beautifully intricate systems.Currently, I'm a Software Engineering Intern at Gadget, where I led a full redesign of their billing page, improving both frontend and backend performance, which enhanced user satisfaction. Using technologies like React.js, Node.js, and Postgres, I worked on improving billing accuracy by up to 300% and optimizing data storage for better cost efficiency.Previously, I interned at Solace, where I worked on a network chaos proxy using Java’s Spring framework, enhancing their ability to intercept and analyze proprietary network packets. I also played a key role in encrypting critical production database attributes, ensuring compliance with data security requirements.As a co-founder of Steampunk Education, I have developed systems that automate resource distribution, reducing costs by 75% and connecting educational centers across Southern Ontario. Our efforts led one of our clients to win the prestigious Angus Mowat Award of Excellence.I’ve also contributed to Ciena as a Full Stack Developer Intern, building React-based UIs and backend Flask services, helping physicists manage complex experiments remotely. For my contributions, I was honored with Ciena’s Bravo Award.
