Evaluated sandstone, carbonate and shale reservoirs worldwide. Developed an isolated porosity model to reconcile well log data with core porosity and grain density in multi-mineral reservoirs containing microporous chert and carbonate. Utilized core porosity and XRD data to demonstrate that compensated neutron - bulk density logs record TOC as hydrocarbon-filled porosity. Used Ransom bulk volume water (BVW) theory to develop work flow for calculation of electrical properties in shale reservoirs and conventional reservoirs drilled with oil-based mud (OBM).

Evaluated oil and gas shale projects in West Texas with concentrated work in the Wolfcamp formation.

Performed petrophysical analyses for exploration and development wells located worldwide. Provided data, interpretations, presentations and reports for core analysis and well log reconciliation and evaluation of tight gas sands, gas and oil shale, granite wash, fractured carbonates and Deep GOM sands.Developed a new petrophysical model for oil and gas shale that allows for conventional calculation of porosity and water saturation from porosity and resistivity well logs that are calibrated with GRI core analysis, XRD data and shale water salinity. The model essentially quantifies the water, kerogen and hydrocarbon well log responses for TOC-bearing rocks presented in the classic Passey et al (1990) AAPG paper.

Partial List of Accomplishments: • Identified 2 new oil zones for TPI in two 1940's U.S. Gulf Coast wells through analysis of resistivity inversion modeling results from old electrical logs and data from carbon-oxygen, TDT and sonic logs.• Constructed multi-well, multi-variable ILD synthetics for a giant oil field that allowed Netherland Sewell to reconstruct deep resistivity in water- swept and secondary gas zones for reservoir simulation OOIP estimate.• Developed stressed porosity and permeability and capillary pressure water saturation models from more than 5000 conventional and special core measurements as part of Burlington Resources’ 15-well development for a 5 TCF tight-gas-sand field in onshore China.• Provided petrophysical support for 2 AVO project areas in the Gulf Coast which assisted Weinman GeoScience geophysicists in developing numerous leads for PEMEX exploration drilling, and identified bypassed, low-contrast gas pay in 3 wells through use of resistivity inversion modeling.• Correctly identified producible heavy oil zones in 2 fresh-water-swept Burlington Resources’ discovery wells drilled in Peru, through utilization of Rwa and moveable oil techniques.• Solved Shell International petrophysical evaluation problem for a mixed carbonate and siliciclastic turbidite reservoir in onshore Mexico that contained isolated porosity by successfully reconciling well log porosity and oil saturation data with that from capillary pressure and relative permeability through derivation and use of unique, bulk volume water mass balance equations.• Improved static and dynamic reservoir permeability models for Shell International ASP chemical flood candidate in Brunei by deriving water and oil permeability equations from SCAL data that resulted in excellent matches of well test and core-derived permeability-height (kh) products.

Partial List of Accomplishments:• Utilized U.S. Gulf Coast analogues to identify low-resistivity, low- contrast gas pay zones in offshore Malaysia-Thailand wells (JDA), which increased potential reserves by several hundred BCF.• Completed a reservoir characterization study for 25 wells in the Pearl River Mouth basin, offshore China, as part of a basin analysis project that secured 2 quality exploration blocks, and resulted in the drilling of 2 syn-rift gas wells.• Increased DeGolyer & MacNaughton 3-P reserves for the giant Cupiagua field in Colombia from 700 to 1,200 MMBO by identifying an oil column in a downdip P&A well logged with LWD tools.

Partial List of Accomplishments:• Calibrated 2-D and 3-D seismic attributes with petrophysical data for reservoir modeling of several oil and gas fields located in Gabon and Tunisia, which resulted in successful development drilling and reserve additions up to 20%. • Re-evaluated petrophysical and geological data for diverse carbonate reservoirs in the Miskar field, Tunisia’s largest gas accumulation (1.0 TCF), which increased reserves by 25%.• Completed petrophysical studies for thin-bedded reservoir sandstones of the Dolphin gas field (2.0 TCF) in offshore Trinidad as part of development plan approved by the government.• Worked with Gabon exploitation team to increase permit oil production from 11,000 to 16,000 BOPD through perforation of new sandstone pay and stimulation.

Partial List of Accomplishments:• Completed or assisted with formation evaluation of 10 discovery wells, 4 of which resulted in world-class discoveries in the North Sea and Colombia.• Delineated several Colombian overthrusted sandstone reservoirs with reservoir engineer and geophysicist, including the drilling of 6 successful stepout wells in the Tello field, which increased field production from 8,000 to 15,000 BOPD.• Improved well log and test analyses and reservoir simulation results for 3 gas-condensate fields in offshore Norway by utilizing stressed rock properties derived from special core analyses

Partial List of Accomplishments:• Recommended recompletion, based on analysis of old well logs and cores, which resulted in the discovery of a 5-well carbonate oil field in West Texas.• Participated in regional stratigraphic study of Louisiana Miocene sandstones that resulted in a 3-well drilling program and discovery of a gas field (25 BCF).• Completed initial reservoir geology and petrophysical studies for the North Robertson field that assisted in formation of company-operated waterflood unit.
