About Gabriel Cox

In my early career, with an entrepreneurial heart I left a software engineering job with $10k in the bank to start an ISP business that I sold in 4 years later to become CTO of a regional ISP. I also got my Pilot's license during this era (this actually comes full circle later on). Taking my bumps/scrapes and networking knowledge to industry I went to a blade server company (RLX) and architected the management software for some of the first blade servers to hit the market. With our scrappy company of 80 employees (including all of HW, SW, FW, Val, Sales), we managed to win several "shootouts" with better managed blades than those from larger MNCs. In 2005, I took those skills to Intel, and built up many more skills around platform engineering (designing more blade server systems), deeper network engineering (like designing ethernet switches), application management, embedded firmware (CMMs, BMCs, Storage and Ethernet Controllers). After adding a great deal of hardware and low level interfaces to my skillset, I was able to architect HW/SW management systems and find another skill of driving and authoring standards (more on that later) where I led several blade, server, and rack management standards. To round out my technologist aptitude, I joined the client group as a Tech Readiness Architect where I focused on several leading and critical technologies ensuring they are well explored prior to baking them into our next silicon products. In 2016, Intel later started a Drone Division where I was able to take my passion for flying to work by joining as a Drone System Architect where I architected several drone control systems using Intel Architecture. In this role I also led Aircraft Certification with the FAA, and also led the Internationally (FAA, EU/EASA, Japan) adopted Remote ID standard which is now required on all UAS (over 250g) shipped in the US. This group later went into Geospacial services where I architected high altitude aircraft systems for scanning the earth.More recently I have led Server BMC manageability go to market strategies and developed cloud performance tools for making our products more measurable in the Cloud. My professional passions are System Architecture, Networking, Driving Standards, Aviation (manned/unmanned), Bringing people together and using technical leadership to bring out a team's mojo to solve difficult problems.Personally, my family gives me inspiration, aviation (really fast) and nautical (really slow) endeavors continue to capture my attention.
