Hispanic Health Council is a nonprofit dedicated to improving health outcomes for the Hispanic community within the Hartford-area communities. Though, all marginalized communities are given preference. Besides health, the HHC’s work includes but is not limited to: research and advocacy, parent and family learning, and public policy. While the department I work with is technically marketing, I also assist in the research and advocacy departments.

Assisting the Director of the Global Learning Institute at Cal State Long Beach, Dr. Richard Marcus, with analyzing and reviewing syllabi for the entirety of the university; paying special attention to both global and writing content that may be contained within the course's curriculum. The team would rank the syllabi numerically, which was dependent on whether or not the course had assignments that totaled 5,000 words or more. In addition to that, we would review the readings and assignments, and judge whether or not the material had content related, or directly pertaining to, global topics. There were specific rubrics to go along with our work in deciding whether or not a course, or syllabus, had adequate levels of writing and international content.

I lobby Congress on U.S. policies which directly aid in the fight to reduce extreme poverty worldwide. I also fundraise for the organization, which involves mobilizing others to lobby their congressional leaders.
