I obtained a Master Degree in "Biotechnology" and a Ph.D. in "Biotechnology, Pharmacology and Toxicology" at Bologna University (Bologna, Italy). From 2009 to 2015, I carried out my research at the Weizmann Institute of Science (Israel). In 2016, I joined the research hospital IRCCS MultiMedica (Milan, Italy) as Principal Investigator/Head of a Research Unit. Since 2019 I am Researcher and Professor of Molecular Biology at Bologna University. Since 2021 I am a member of the PhD Board of Surgical Sciences and Innovative Technologies of Bologna University.My research focuses on molecular mechanisms governing cell differentiation and proliferation in the context of development and tissue renewal/regeneration and in cancer (Nature Cardiovascular Research 2022; Nature 2018; Nature Cell Biology 2015; Nature Communications 2014; Nature Immunology 2012; Nature Immunology 2011). We uncovered a key role for glucocorticoid receptor (GR) and for Neuregulin co-receptor ERBB2 in cardiac regeneration (Nature Cardiovascular Research, 2022; Nature Cell Biology, 2015).
