As a hobby I wrote a novel a few years back, a Techno-Thriller in the Tom Clancy, Dan Brown genre by the name, “The Lion’s Prophecy.” I enjoyed the creative process, which allowed me to explore the things I know about, the Marines Corps and technology, and blend them into a near-future thriller drawn from today’s headlines.The book was published in March 2013, see it on Amazon, iTunes, Google Play or Barnes and Nobel.

It just completed its Series C round at an oversubscribed $25 million and has significant momentum in its space.

CoreExpress was engaged in the engineering, deployment and management of a paradigmatic shift in Internet backbone services that enabled large scale Business-to-Business (B2B) computing across the public Internet. CoreExpress was the first Internet backbone company to supply end-to-end performance guarantees to corporations across multiple Internet Service Providers (ISPs). In doing so, CoreExpress enabled the first Quality of Service (Qos) Internet service for B2B mission critical computing. CoreExpress, at its peak, raised over $700 million in venture, debt and vendor financing and employed over 350 personnel.

Savvis Communications was a wide area network service provider specializing in Internet services. Our network spaned the United States with points-of-presence (POPs) in seventeen major cities connected with DS-3 links (45 Mbps). We specialized in high-end Internet Access for corporations (T-1 and DS-3) using a concept called Private Network Access Points (PNAPs) that allowed Savvis customers to bypass the Internet’s Metropolitan Area Exchanges (MAEs) and Network Access Points (NAPs).Responsible for all Engineering and Network Operations functions in the company with two Vice Presidents reporting to me who supervised two engineering and operations divisions. As CTO, I was responsible for the technical direction of the company as well as technical “evangelism” to the media, customers, partners and peer service providers.

Led Ascom Nexion’s call control software development effort that implemented a point-to-multipoint Quality-of-Service enabled connection management system for its ATM cell switching technology. Also led the companies standardization efforts at the ATM forum and as a founding member of the Quantum Flow Control consortium.
