CurrentGareth Daniel has worked for more than thirty five years in urban local government in the UK and served for 14 years (1998-2012) as Chief Executive of Brent Council. He was active in London regional and sub-regional affairs and was a founding chief executive of the West London Alliance (WLA) grouping of six West London councils. He represented London borough chief executives in the planning of the London 2012 Games and was also the driving force behind the construction of Brent Council's new £100 million award-winning Civic Centre in Wembley. He has managed public sector programmes and projects of many kinds and has been heavily involved in setting up and leading a wide variety of cross-border and multi-agency partnerships. He now works as a freelance consultant on public policy and governance issues and undertakes change management and partnership development projects in the public and not-for-profit sectors. Recent projects include a major review of a £10 million regional grant giving programme and an independent governance review of a waste disposal authority. Also undertakes executive mentoring with aspirant senior managers in the public and not-for-profit sectors and is a regular speaker at training events and awaydays.
