Head of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s Construction Wales Innovation Centre (CWIC). Before starting an academic career in various FE and HE institutions, I spent 10 years in the industry working for various regional and U.K based construction companies. I am a keen advocate of high-level skills development; particularly through the apprenticeship routes, having started his career as a Carpentry apprentice before progressing into further studies. I have a strong knowledge of construction digital technologies, NetZero practices, and equipment across the sector and regularly advises companies and strategy groups on the implementation of technology within the industry. I represent the interests of the Construction Wales Innovation Centre on several strategy and focus groups. These include CITB’s Future & Digital Skills Strategy Group, City and Guilds’ Digital and Emerging Technologies Curriculum Development Group, as well as the Cardiff City Region, West Wales Construction Cluster Advisory Groups and Welsh Governments Optimised Retrofit Programme Board. I am also a member of the British Association of Construction Heads Network. At CWIC I focus on leading the centre's drive towards future skills delivery and development. The team currently oversees a number of flagship initiatives, many of these focusing on high-level knowledge and skill development using the latest construction technology. These initiatives reach across Great Britain and Europe, striving to champion future and higher-level skills within the construction industry and its related education ecosystems. Construction Wales Innovation Centre (CWIC) has been at the forefront of developing and delivering emerging skills and training initiatives in construction since its inception in September 2016. CWIC’s Net Zero Skills Strategy is underpinned by a large amount of research and extensive industry engagement relating to the continued drive for modernisation and decarbonisation within the sector. Welsh industry has a significant challenge in working towards Net Zero and CWIC’s work certainly shows how we can support the industry drive forward and tackle the challenge head-on.Skilled in Project Management, Innovation, Construction Management, Timber Engineering, Carpentry, Joinery, Coaching, Mentoring, Teaching and Learning.
