Working in this role I handle the quality of plants coming into the business. This is through depot delivery collections and supplier visits to nurseries to monitor quality of the stock before it is sent to us. I also work with the buying team with buying stock, when to buy and what to buy. I have also worked with the hard goods team dealing with quality issues and product compliance. I have worked in developing product specifications for Hard and softlines, detailing all the legal requirements and test requirements for a product.

Worked full time in the stores Garden Centre whilst also studying for an RHS Level 1 qualification and studying Garden Design with award winning designer Adam Frost. I visited numerous and varied suppliers.

I handle the first line phone calls for all orders. I help customers come to a conclusion on what product to buy. I help customers with any problems that they are encountering with one of our products. I produce invoices and proformas for customers. I also handle any bespoke Sauna or Steam Room orders because of my knowledge and skill with 2D and 3D design with this skill I produce 2D and 3D designs for the customer so they know what they would be getting. I liaise with Architects and building contractors on commercial and new build projects.

I performed a variety of tasks, from setting out chairs for services to preparing and delivering sermons, and no week was ever the same. My responsibilities included: Leading a variety of styles of service and also preparing and preaching sermons, Regular work with the youth of the church, planning and delivering Sunday school sessions, regularly visiting elderly house bound members of the congregation. Leading Bible studies. Helping weekly at the Parent and Toddler Group. My work as a ministry apprentice has allowed me to serve in the local community at the local school and in a local community centre. I also did quite a lot of administration, helping in the office which included filing, folding, photocopying, preparing literature and also manning the office, answering the phones and dealing with any enquires. For our staff meeting we are allocated a book we read in a group, this can be a personal devotional book to ecclesiology and Christian leadership. I also have dedicated time to the study of Greek, in aid of my study and to support my sermon preparation, this involved regular weekly one to one lessons with homework set for throughout the week. I spent time shadowing the Vicar in seeing how he handles and deals with things such as home visits, funerals, weddings.

Last year I spent one evening a week doing voluntary work at Shallowford house Christian retreat and meeting centre. In this position I worked as front of house manning the reception and dealing with payments made by various guests from organising rooms to just arranging for meals. I worked closely with a particular diocesan group of readers, where I would set up their classrooms ready for them, organise them the week before for their meals, and also would manage their use of their library at Shallowford House.

Stafford

This is a Community Centre in Castle Church Parish which provides a drop-in centre with laptops and computers so local people can access the internet to find jobs. There are also full-time staff there who can advise on a variety of issues such as education and benefits. I began working in the kitchen of the café, serving refreshments, but gradually my role has expanded and I am often able to sit down and talk with people about problems they are having, and this has presented some evangelistic opportunities. I dealt with adults, many of whom have severe issues relating to drugs, alcohol and homelessness.

I volunteered once a week at the local school, working in Year 4 and Reception classes. This includes accompanying a Year 4 class on their residential trip, where I worked alongside the children helping them to tackle their fears and deal with separation from their parents. I also took two teams to a local Tag Rugby tournament, allowing me to use my own rugby skills to build up the children’s confidence to encourage them to participate.

Wolverhampton, United Kingdom

In my final year of College I worked as a Youth Worker at a church in Wolverhampton. I worked with teens aged 13-18 on Sunday nights as we spent time playing games and socialising before studying the Bible together, working systematically through James, Romans and finally Acts. Where I wrote session leaflets that allowed the young people to look back at the passage and see what we had covered whilst looking at the books. I also took 30 of the group to Soul Survivor for the week which was a great time of fellowship, worship and bonding to end my time there.
