Being Discovery Manager at Ecosurety is a bit like being the Second Officer on the starship Enterprise! It's the company's ideas hub and I manage a range projects that are part of Ecosurety's mission (as a B Corp) to go beyond mere compliance and deliver real, positive impact. These range widely from new recycling technologies to pioneering new collaborative voluntary extended producer responsibility projects like the Flexible Plastics Fund. I ran Ecosurety's £1M Exploration Fund as well as a smattering of 'traditional' consultancy type projects playing to my core behaviour change skills. All in all, very varied and very, very exciting!

I was Principal Consultant with Ricardo Energy and Environment, a global environmental services consultancy where I had a unique role, working on behaviour change, communications and stakeholder engagement projects across the business . - Worked across a range of environmental disciplines (air quality, energy, water, resource management and waste) for UK and international public and private sector clients – 50+ clients including: BEIS, Carillion plc, Defra, EU Commission, European Environment Agency, Royal Mint, St George’s NHS Trust, TK Maxx, WRAP and Zero Waste Scotland.- Secured and delivered 50+ behaviour change/communications projects, managing staff resources and finances to ensure delivery of project outcomes to client deadlines, budget and expectations.- Developed and managed campaign branding for clients, e.g. the Recycle for Scotland brand and the Water Label. - Developed 25+ communications/stakeholder engagement strategies and conducted stakeholder engagement/research for a range of organisations: Zero Waste Scotland, Southern Water, UK Water Industries Research (UKWIR) and Birmingham City Council and United Utilities.- Devised 20+ recycling communication strategies for UK local authorities to reduce contamination, change services or launch new ones (e.g. food waste collections).- Developed 15+ behaviour change carbon reduction/energy saving campaigns for public and private sector organisations: Carillion; DVLA; Leeds and Lancaster universities; St George’s NHS Trust; South Wales Fire and Rescue Service. - Writer/contributor/design manager for numerous reports and guides: WRAP Textile Collection Guidance; the Resource Efficiency Scoreboard reports for DG Environment (EU Commission); and a Smart Cities report for RWM 2017. - Led workshops on diverse issues: UK emission scenarios (BEIS); Public waste consultation (Lewisham Council); Waste reduction in the global food chain (BIS); Customer behaviour change (SE Water).

- Developed new business, primarily in the recycling and renewable energy sectors (public sector).- Identified, led or advised on tender writing for all public sector work (10+ tenders). - Delivered client projects and campaigns, including an integral role in WRAP’s Recycle Now campaign.- Developed the key elements of Pindar Group’s global environmental strategy (Pindar then comprised Pindar Graphics, Alphagraphics and Yellow Pages).

- Member of the Senior Management Team, leading on Business Development and Marketing, the business change process (as part of the merger) and implementing the new corporate identity. - Devised and delivered the company’s first three-year business strategy and developed new long-term business opportunities e.g. with WRAP, East Midlands Development Agency and the Environment Agency.- Successfully delivered on-going client contracts, for example, as strategic adviser to WRAP's Recycle Now campaign for England (2006-07).

- Member of Senior Management Team with strategic, operational management and budget responsibilities. Contributed to doubling in size of company and significant increase in profitability. - Helped company move to full employee ownership and then merge to form Resource Futures.- Strategic adviser to WRAP's Recycle Now campaign for England (2003 - 2006).- Directed a £2 million national multi-sector and multi-stakeholder waste awareness campaign, managing a team (Leeds and London from SWAP and Waste Watch), and a multi-disciplinary communications agency.- Directed Community RePaint (2001 - 2004), masterminding a multi-sector funding and sponsorship package that enabled the expansion of this innovative community-based paint reuse service from 15 to 100+ projects nationwide.
