I am an award-winning communications strategist and acknowledged expert in behaviour change turned expert in recycling flexible plastic packaging (FPP) with with over 30 years experience across waste, recycling and resource efficiency.I've spent the last three years at Ecosurety trying to help manufacturers, brands, the recycling industry and UK government answer the vexed question of how to collect and recycle FPP collected at scale from UK households. The job's not done yet! Prior to this I was a behaviour change specialist and my practical experience covers the full range of communications and engagement disciplines. I've worked with hundreds of organisations within the public, private and third/community sectors on behaviour change, sustainability and resource efficiency strategies and campaigns. Clients have included:- EU Commission, UK government departments (Defra, BIS/BEIS) and agencies (WRAP, DVLA, The Royal Mint), Zero Waste Scotland, Welsh Local Government Association, NHS Trusts; Fire and Rescue as well as Police Services.- UK water companies (Southern Water, SE Water and United Utilities), UK Water Industries Research (UKWIR), and the Universities of Leeds, Derby and Lancaster.- Many (many) local councils from throughout the UK I have successfully managed a number of complicated multi-stakeholder (and multi-sector) projects, developing direction for organisations in-line with overall goals as well as commercial and/or industry/sectoral needs. For eleven years I was a company director at SWAP and Resource Futures and I took both companies through major change programmes.Some of my major projects include:- Playing a central role in three national UK recycling and waste management campaigns: Rethink Rubbish (2002 – 2004), Recycle Now (2004 - 2008), Recycle for Scotland (2011 – 2012);- Managing communications and engagement projects on four national business resource efficiency programmes: Envirowise (Defra); Welsh Public Sector Waste Minimisation Campaign (Envirowise Wales/Welsh Assembly Government); WRAP’s Business Resource Efficiency programme; and Resource Efficient Scotland (Zero Waste Scotland).
