Manage 8 forests covering around 4500ha of forest, mountain and open habitats leading a team of 4 staff and upto 15 volunteers in providing a range of ecosystem services through the public forest estate.Plan, organise and monitor timber harvesting (25,000m3/annum), forest establishment (20 to 30ha per annum), maintenance operations and conservation activity including contract and budget management responsibilities.Lead partner in Wild Ennerdale , one of Englands largest and longest running ecosystem restoration projects and designated Cumbria’s largest National Nature Reserve in November 2024.Lead on Continuous Cover Forest (CCF) management across six forests including two national CCF demonstration sites.

As a founder member of the Wild Ennerdale Partnership I get great inspiration and enthusiasm from working with colleagues from the National Trust , United Utilities, Natural England and partners such as the YHA, Volunteers and Parish Council in working out our vision to "allow the Ennerdale valley to develop as a wilder place for the benefit of people allowing natural processes a greater involvement in the future look and feel of the valley." I have been amazed and honoured at the interest Wild Ennerdale has generated.

Manage approximately 7500ha of forest, mountain and open habitats leading a team of 6 staff and upto 15 volunteers in providing a range of ecosystem services through the public forest estate.Plan, organise and monitor timber harvesting, forest establishment and maintenance operations and conservation activity including contract and budget management responsibilities.Lead on Forest Design Planning for North and West Cumbria completing stakeholder consultation , GIS Mapping and setting the vision and objectives for each forest.Lead on Continuous Cover Forest (CCF) management across six forests including two national CCF demonstration sites.

West Cumbria

Manage approximately 5000ha of forest, mountain, grassland and river leading a team of people and volunteers in developing opportunities to expand and develop benefits to communities and visitors as part of delivering a range of ecosystem services. Plan and organise and monitor timber harvesting and forest establishment programmes delivered by contractors.Lead on Forest Design Planning within my area completing stakeholder consultation, GIS mapping and setting aims and objectives for each forest.Lead and support a distributed regional website team.Lead on Continuous Cover Management with a number of national CCF sites sharing ideas and experiences through visits and meetings.

Worked with the Forestry Team in the role of assistant planning and managing a variety of operations including road building, fencing and planting.
