Main responsibilities include:• Assess the status of the operation and functioning of the sector based advisory groups. The role will act to improve their effectiveness and manage any resulting change.• Develop and implement a pricing sector education and development programme to build awareness, understanding and confidence of commissioners, providers and other NHS stakeholders in the operation and use of the payment system for the benefit of patient care.• Coordinate with the Strategic communications team on the content and development of the stakeholder involvement (including events and other engagement activities, frequently asked questions dissemination of benchmarking and other publications, media, marketing, digital media and internal communications activities) delivered by the Monitor strategic communications team. • Deliver speeches/presentations at stakeholder events

Provide expert Casemix information to support stakeholders and internal projects. This requires extensive ongoing knowledge of analytical products as well and DH/NHS policy developments. The aim of which is to ensure that quality products are developed that meet the needs of stakeholders and are then fully utilised within the NHS

Secondment to Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust to undertake a formal review of Clinical coding services at the Trust regarding the Structure, Training and Audit function, Staff engagement, Organisational engagement, Performance, and Reporting.

Playing a key role in ensuring efficient and effective development and implementation of central strategies for clinical coding, to facilitate development of competent clinical coders and uses of coded clinical data by:• Developing and maintaining formal networks with key contacts in the NHS through user groups and other forums, and through these contacts developing and implementing strategy which, while reflecting a common framework nationwide, is relevant to the particular circumstances or a geographical area.• Helping to develop clinical coding trainers in the NHS by delivery of a programme of clinical coding training in accordance with national standard, using national standard products.• Providing and coordinating clinical coding expertise in relation to respective classifications.• Providing an educational service to healthcare organisations on clinical coding issues and use of associated products.• Disseminating and advocating information to the NHS on national policies and strategies.• Piloting and providing feedback on the effectiveness and quality of associated products.• Contributing to the development of national standards for clinical coding.• Facilitating high quality clinical coding audit• Keep abreast of, and where appropriate, influence the development of national issues associated with clinical coding.

Within the context of the development of the care record, Clinical Governance, the commissioning process, Clinical Effectiveness, Medical Research, Resource Managements and the development of the new Hospital:• Project manages the implementation of a major change programme for clinical coding.• Led and managed a team of 17 clinical coding staff across a multi site Trust.• Managed the clinical coding activity throughout the Trust• Trained clinical coders and educated other members of the multidisciplinary staff on why data capture is essential.• Reviewed and maintained the clinical coding strategy and managed its continued implementation.• Achieved targets set by the Health Authorities and within the Trust for standards of accuracy, completeness, timeliness and ‘depth’ of coded clinical data, through effective day-today management and training within the department.• Keep abreast of, and where appropriate, influence the development of regional and national issues associated with clinical coding.
