Hargreaves Lansdown is the UK’s largest retail investment platform with £120B+ of assets under administration. In 2017 they launched HL Select, a group of internally managed equity funds. I joined to help develop the Global Growth fund, which successfully launched in May 2018 with £350m AUM. Role and Responsibilities• Identify quality growth stock ideas that fit with HL Select’s long-term investment philosophy.• Communicate a detailed investment thesis, drivers and risks through written reports. • Construct and maintain bottom up models to test, monitor and increase conviction in the investment thesis. • Reviewing existing holdings on an ongoing basis, challenge new and current ideas in order to determine the level of conviction.• Refine investment process to increase depth of our analysis and reduce the impact of cognitive biases. • Built an internal model to standardise the valuation framework of all HL Select stocks. • Lead a three-person team to implement a high conviction 30-40 stock portfolio measured against the FTSE World. • Train and develop analytical skills of junior analysts.
