My passion is enabling users to be more efficient, effective and productive, via applications that deliver data transparency and functional capability, are innovative, aesthetically pleasing and make common daily tasks efficient and easy. Applications should encourage adoption via their simplicity and effectiveness and should not rely on governance and KPIs to drive embedment. Resources are increasingly constrained. Workloads and efficiency demands are grow continuously. Businesses are collecting, storing and managing exponentially more data. The work to manage this data, supporting systems and underpinning infrastructure falls to a shrinking number of resources. Significant productivity growth must be delivered through the implementation of new technologies, with greater transparency to data, leveraging simpler processes and procedures, trusting people more and removing unnecessary governance . I started with a role implementing ERP Systems (Unix & 4GL Informix). These applications offered source code access so my full career has been implementing solutions in a DevOps maintenance & support environment with little dependence on 3rd Party level 3 support. I developed deep skills in full system architecture and managing DevOps teams. The first 10 years were predominately focused on finance, wholesale distribution, professional services and discrete manufacturing. I bought into businesses in Melbourne and Sydney providing ERP application, implementation, development and support, for Microsoft Dynamics ERP/CRM. We focused on professional services (auditors, engineers, town planners) reliant project management, time, cost and billing. Implementations took me to multiple countries around the world (Australia, USA, NZ, Brazil, Chile, Malaysia and more) providing create exposure to many cultures. I had a quick couple of years chasing a passion to design and author a web development framework and a web UI. These were exciting years, but demanded a great deal of capital. The last 7 years have been working in corporate (BHP), initially as a Project Manager, but then back to more core passion of application implementation, design and support (DevOps). For 4 years I focused on ITIL Service Management (ServiceNow) as the BHP Design Authority. For the last three years I have lead teams providing Agile DevOps maintenance & support to critical supply chain systems: Rail Control, Rail & Rolling Stock Asset Integrity, Port & Rail Scheduling, Operational Environment Monitoring (Slope, Dams, Wireless Networks, etc.)
