Since COVID-19 began:- Blogs: Wrote blogs on COVID-19 Resources, the Federal & State Responses to COVID-19, & California's Budget developments.- Regional Workgroups: Heard from stakeholders across California about local responses and challenges during COVID-19, including: impact on community health workers, Promotoras, rural & hard-hit urban areas, geographical challenges regarding testing, broadband disparities, Public Charge, & the connected challenges of COVID-19 & wildfires. - Black Lives Matter and Health Equity: Helped craft a statement related to Black Lives Matter, the protests for racial justice, & a commitment to prioritizing racial and health equity; also pushed ITUP to ensure racial & health equity is a main focus.- Podcast: Planned podcast development as well as wrote a script and recorded the first episode on the racial disparities in COVID-19.- Policy Tracking: Built a tracker to document COVID-19-related actions from the Governor, Legislature, & various state agencies.- Internal Organization: Built a Slack platform for ITUP to maintain organizational communications; helped to redefine ITUP's publications framework.- Helped craft COVID-19 media talking points.- Part of interview & selection team for a new Director of Health Policy Research.Regular (Non-COVID-19) tasks:- Track legislative, budgetary, administrative, & regulatory actions that expand coverage, advance health equity, improve affordability, & reform California's health care system.- Write issue briefs, fact sheets, legislative updates, & blogs.- Toured California discussing barriers to care coordination with ITUP's stakeholders, communicated findings with Sacramento policymakers with the Notes from the Field publication.- Work includes: Health Care Programs for Immigrants fact sheet, Budget and Legislative summaries, Federal Administration's Refusal to Defend the ACA, Covering Undocumented Adults in Medi-Cal.

Developed a jurisdictional alcohol policy report to serve as the baseline information for an alcohol retailing program initiative.

As part of the Johns Hopkins Center for Child and Community Health Research, my role was to lead public health program evaluations that included: a program designed to improve the support and community resources available to elderly caregivers, evaluation of Baltimore clinic's use of a prenatal risk assessment form, and evaluating an initiative to increase young men's access to quality sexual and reproductive health care services.

The Willow Clinic is a student-run and UC Davis Medical School-affiliated clinic that serves the homeless population in Sacramento.The mission of the Willow Clinic is to improve the health and well-being of the homeless population of Sacramento by helping to meet the psychiatric and medical care needs of this underserved population, as well as to provide a unique platform for medical & undergraduate student education. As a general volunteer and the Co-Manager my responsibilities were:–Directed clinic staff, oversaw clinic flow and logistics, tracked patient progress through the clinic’s services, and led weekly meetings with 50 volunteers, medical students, and physicians –Supervised urban and clinical research efforts, including: Patient interest and knowledge of the Affordable Care Act, Nutrition Insecurity, Patients’ Means of Transportation–Implemented methods to increase patient recruitment and access to care, e.g. flyering efforts–Designed and Implemented training protocols and procedures that increased clinic efficiency –Gained knowledge of treatment strategies, clinical decision making, and patient careI presented with other Willow Clinic leaders at the Society of Student-run Free Clinics Conference in Nashville, TN on the benefits an undergraduate team can provide a student-run free clinic. Investigated new axon growth in mice hippocampus with a focus on the involvement of potassium voltage-gated ion channels.
