I'm Garrett, a born-and-raised New Orleanian and proud alumnus of the University of Alabama. Access to a quality education is the greatest way to achieve success in this world. Unfortunately, many are faced with systemic barriers that make it extremely difficult to receive such an education. After graduating from UA with a B.A. in Political Science and Spanish, I decided to teach ESL in Quito, Ecuador. I later joined Teach for America to take my expertise back home, where I helped students achieve accelerated literacy growth despite the Coronavirus pandemic and pre-Covid systemic barriers. As much as I enjoy helping students one-by-one, my career goal is aligned with advocating for all students in every classroom across the United States. I not only understand the importance of hard work, but also I understand it as a necessity to achieving great impact in education. There is always much more I can share, so I hope we can connect!
