I got both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from National Cheng-Kung University. I was majored in pavement at graduate school. My thesis is “Using 3D Finite Element Program to Analyze Flexible Pavement”.In June 1998, after I got my Master’s degree, I got a job from RSEA; the biggest construction company in Taiwan. I worked in their Central Taiwan Main Office, Planning Department.The scope of my work included bidding for new projects, cost control & reviewing method statements for new projects, determining prices for subcontract tendering works, and auditing works.In Feb. 2001, I left RSEA and started a new job in the biggest BOT project in the world - Taiwan High Speed Rail Project (C250). I was employed by a German company - HOCHTIEF AG Taiwan Branch, being a Civil Engineer in Engineering Department. The first year I was in charge of management of method statements. The second year, I was assigned to be a material engineer, responsible for preparing requisitions for all materials used in Project C250. The scope of my work was as follows:1.Preparing the bill of quantities for materials.2.Determining the specifications for materials.3.Preparing the requisition packages.4.Approving the alternative materials from suppliers.5.Approving workshop drawings from suppliers. In Apr. 2004, the civil works of Taiwan High Speed Rail Project C250 were finished. I was laid off and took a rest at home till Feb. 2005. And in Feb. 2005 I started my new career as a field engineer in Pacific Engineers & Constructors, Ltd (PECL). The projects I was involved were as follows:1.Feb. 2005 ~ Mar. 2005: Nuclear Power Plant No.1 Suppression Pool Strainer Replacement Project.Being a QC engineer and translator for CCI Switzerland.2.Mar. 2005 ~ Jun. 2005:Taiwan High Speed Rail Project C430 – Design, Supply and Installation of Noise Barrier System.Being an interface engineer to prepare work permit and coordinate with other work parties.In Jul. 2005, after the Project C430 was finished, I left PECL and got a new job in Taichung County Government. I was designated as a chief engineer and in charge of local zone expropriation projects till Aug. 2006.After that I took a rest and studied at home. In Mar. 2007, I got a Professional Civil Engineer Licence. And I work as Professional Civil Engineer for a local contractor till now.
