• Supported faculty and graduate research projects as an integral member of the lab team. • Responsible for conducting experiments, designing and constructing lab apparatus, identifying and resolving issues, collecting data, performing statistical analysis, programming computer models and simulations, and writing reports and papers for publication. Co-author on four papers.• Developed 3D printing of pharmaceuticals from mobile lab unitso 3D printing polymers are largely insoluble and have low mechanical properties, Ms. Garver conducted solubility studies in order to dissolve the drug molecules in a solution which would be added to the extruder with the polymer as well as studied the properties of many polymer options. • Designed microfluidic double emulsion device, which involved pulling and polishing thousands of capillaries, and working as a member of a team to design the device.o To enable this project to be completed on a tight budget, Ms. Garver developed the expertise to hand manufacture capillaries and found a leading expert to join the team• Designed COMSOL reactor models to support conversion of batch processing to continuous o Led study on antisolvent crystallization of lactose microparticles through crystallization and presented results in poster session at Biotech 8 • Characterized the crystallinity of multiple drug samples• Conducted literature searches to inform team projects and experiment designs.• Developed and managed Gantt charts to manage long-term research projects.• Provides weekly status updates and presentations to faculty and team members. • Lactose crystals are too fine to be collected by vacuum filtration of a filter over vacuum. Ms. Garver experimented with rotovap and genivap before fitting test tubes with a silicone stopper and piercing with a cotton filled needle attached to a fume hood pump. By drying the crystals carefully the crystals remained in the vials for imaging and were unable to dissolve before drying
