WHO ARE WE: Hasta La Equity is dedicated to improving organizational equity through the integration of diversity, inclusion, and cultural consciousness within the organization. Hasta La Equity was founded by Marisa Garverick Herrera with the mission of providing professional consultation, coaching, and professional learning services to individuals and a wide array of organizations.MISSION:Hasta La Equity strives to create organizational environments more equitable, particularly for Black, Indigenious, People of Color by creating culturally responsive supports through a holistic lens. Denver'S Northwest Region

-Developed and implemented anti-racist professional learning for teachers, school leaders, district leaders, administrative staff, and central office teams on anti-racism, culturally responsive practices, cultural competence, courageous conversations about race, anti-bias training and equitable practices- virtually and in person-Coached leaders and educators on anti-racism, culturally responsive instruction and practices, change leadership leadership, advocacy skills, coaching skills, cultural competence, anti-bias training, and navigating difficult conversations both-virtually and in person-Managed the equity and anti-racism work of 25 different schools including individual schools’ plans based on initiatives such as the Denver Public Schools Black Excellence Board Resolution-Collected, reviewed, and analyzed quantitative and qualitative data from 25 different schools, while monitoring districtwide trends through an anti-racist lens-Led equity and anti-racist audits in partnership with schools -Evaluated and make recommendations on how to systematically change data in which Black, Indigenous, Students of Color are disproportionately underrepresented in successful academic outcomes and overrepresented in areas such as behavior referrals and special education -Oversaw school improvement plans for 25 schools reaching approximately 20,000 students-Communicated and collaborate regularly across multiple teams, stakeholders and community members to foster an anti-racist environment that prioritizes the success of Black, Indigenous, Students of Color -Led anti-racist professional learning for the northwest team to enhance and improve our practice with schools

-Collected, reviewed, and analyzed quantitative and qualitative data, while monitoring districtwide trends through an anti-racist lens-Managed districtwide culturally responsive education initiatives and projects reaching 90,000 students-Engaged various stakeholders across the district at all hierarchical levels, and partner with the Denver community to ensure the success of Black, Indigenous, Students and Educators of Color-Collaborated to manage Culturally Responsive Education budget of over a million dollars from four different funding sources, including multiple grants

-Managed campaign portfolios for candidates across the state of Colorado -Advised candidates on campaign strategies -Advised candidates on their demographics, and worked through plans on how they were reaching diverse and underrepresented populations, including non-English speaking populations

Latin America

-Traveled to México, Guatemala, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú, Bolivia, Chile, and Argentina-Taught English as a second language to adults at Light Up English Club, Cali, Colombia, September 20 - November 3, 2016-Taught classes of 3-10 students at beginning and advanced levels-Designed curriculum and resources for three different levels of English alongside other teachersCreated fun and unique daily lesson plans which incorporated games, technology, and socially conscious topics-Launched an organizational tool to track student data in Excel and Google docs-Organized holiday Halloween party with themed English activities-Volunteered for three different families in Bogotá, Colombia (September 6 - September 16, 2016), Lamas, Peru (November 8 - November 23, 2016), and Urubamba, Peru (November 28, 2016 - February 15, 2017) -Provided childcare for newborns to teenagers-Performed other household and yard work-Volunteered for Cerveza Artesanal Caiquén, Chile, February 26 - March 24, 2017-Assisted in the production of craft beer, including: brewing, bottling, marketing, and attending promotional events
