I am the leader of the Nebraska City Utilities technology team which consists of three members. Each of the three members has a specialty (Electronics Specialist: Industrial Control Systems (ICS), Information Technology (IT), Operations Technology (OT). The team leader is proficient in all three general specialties and similar areas of skill/discipline convergence, but all three members are expected to cross train to add depth to the team.Areas of responsibilities include: all electronic communications, control, data handling, and electronic security measures. We liaise with outside contractors, integrators, and regulators especially when a turnkey solution is decided upon, but we perform almost all of the inter-organizational system integration beyond that. This is done through the whole system lifecycle including the designing of internal systems, implementing/commissioning those system designs, maintaining the implemented systems, and decommissioning those systems at EOL.Telephone, video, email, Land Mobile Radio, data collection/reporting, and wireless communications are also included responsibilities. Having a position on this team means that you can at least master the basic fundamentals of many disciplines and work closely with all departments. Basic plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and project management skills are necessary in addition to the core electronic skills for each team member.Personally, all my diverse past experiences make it possible to perform the responsibilities as a member of this unique team. I do what most people go above and beyond for my job because it is not just a job it is supporting everyone that uses or services in our communities and beyond...a true public service.
Listed skills include Management, Integration, Troubleshooting, Networking, and 9 others.
