The core role of the Driver Manager is to ensure that our customers at TransPennine Express (TPE) receive the best, most timely, and above all, safest service we can provide. We do this through the provision of both professional and personal support to our teams of train drivers and frontline colleagues. We ensure adherence to regulation and the certification of competence whilst coaching and mentoring staff back to full competence when the time arises. It also sees us providing resource, operations, project and facility management whilst ensuring compliance with H&S legislation and employment law. The role entrusts myself and my colleagues to provide support to all our drivers in the eastern region, or 'North Route', and working our depots at York, Newcastle, Hull and Scarborough.

The primary responsibility of the On Board Service Manager is to ensure that TransPennine Express (TPE) customers get the best service whilst on board our trains. We do this by leading, supporting and investing in our team of Conductors enabling them to perform at their very best and fulfilling all TPE promises to our customers. As well as line management responsibilities, we also play a key role in closely monitoring their safety competence and their development as well as the operational management of our depot including resilience planning and delivery. This role allows me to build on many of the skills developed and honed during my previous career and roles whilst bringing some new, and very welcome challenges. Above all, it brings me the great and very genuine honour of supporting the excellent work of Conductors based out of our Newcastle and Hull depots and indeed all of the team in the eastern region whilst looking forward to and planning for our future growth. To support industry in the quality audit processes for the new aircraft carrier build. To mentor, coach, motivate and inspire personnel in my employ to develop personally and professionally enhancing productivity. Responsible for direct reports ranging between 4-30 personnel.- Awarded Second Sea Lord Commendation for an outstanding career with highly personal investment in all my staff and their development, most recently as the first Personnel Manager on HMS Prince of Wales (June 2018)- Awarded Commanding Officer's Efficiency Prize for employee engagement and customer service as Personnel Manager in support of Royal Navy Personnel at HM Naval Base Clyde (June 2015)- Awarded NATO Joint Warfare Centre Military Member of the Year for my support to my division including resource, relocation and transformation management (December 2010).
