Responsible for managing the activities and career paths of mechanical engineering design authority engineers charged with the responsibility for conducting performance monitoring as well as the operability, availability; reliability; maintainability; and configuration management of the structures, systems, and components at the DOE Savannah River Nuclear Complex. Responsibilities also include maintaining the facility's nuclear safety authorization basis documentation as well as ensuring that the facility is operated and maintained to meet or exceed governing Federal, State, and local regulatory requirements as well industry codes and standards applicable to nuclear and non-nuclear process systems.

Served in the nuclear propulsion engineering spaces aboard the Fast Attack Submarine USS Shark (SSN 591), USS Skipjack (SSN 585), and Fleet Ballistic Missile Submarine USS Woodrow Wilson (SSBN-624; Gold) while on active duty and until affiliating with the Naval Reserve in June of 1979. Qualified as Engineering Officer of the Watch and Engineering Watch Supervisor. Served as Master Chief of the Command (MCOC) while assigned to the COMSUBLANT Naval Reserve detachment located in Washington, DC and later as MCOC for the Charleston Naval Weapons Station Reserve detachment located in Augusta, GA. until retiring from the reserves in 1993.

Developed a reliability centered maintenance program and procedures required for extending the overhaul cycle for nuclear submarines from three years to nine years; in support of the Naval Command Centers Ships Systems Maintenance Monitoring and Support Office. Provided professional engineering support services to commercial nuclear power stations located on the east and west coasts to improve system performance, maintenance monitoring, and reliability as well methods to improve compliance with the utility's Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR).
