Work as the Discipline Manager in developing and implementing discipline training and the mentoring of discipline engineers. Plans, organizes, and supervises the work staff of S&MA Engineers. Technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating assignments; developing novel concepts and approaches; planning and developing S&MA engineering and assurance projects concerned with unique or controversial problems which have an important effect on major programs; maintaining liaison with Program Manager and Technical Manager. Works with the Discipline Technical Leads in developing and implementing discipline training and the mentoring of discipline engineers. Assigns discipline resources to Task Orders, provides discipline input to Task Order planning, and assists Performs peer review of all major Discipline deliverables prior to submittal to customer. Assists customer organizations with technical issues resolution. Performs as back-up to Discipline engineers for surge support, employees on TDY, vacation, etc. Responsible administratively and technically for Discipline employees (Performance Appraisals, Timesheets, etc.). Responsible for technical content and timeliness of all discipline related deliverables. Leads process improvement effort, tools development, and innovation for respective disciplines. Develop and utilize any S&MA specific tools needed to assure that all applicable system safety requirements (e.g., Agency, Center, Program/Project, etc.) are identified for MSFC Program and Projects. These should include, but not be limited to fault tree analysis, logic trees, risk definition and mitigation analyses, hazard analysis, and trending/data search. Identify any adverse safety trends and promptly notify MSFC S&MA. Develop and maintain metrics regarding the safety performance of MSFC Programs and Projects.
