I write and edit almost anything, including: * Environmental Writing, especially writing about conservation and climate change issues in Western and Eastern Europe *features and news articles * profiles of personalities and places * nonfiction books and reports. I have authored hundreds of articles in national publications -The Washington Post, Time Magazine, The Los Angeles Times, National Geographic Traveler, The Root.com, among others. I worked for almost three decades as a staff writer and manager at Time Magazine and the Washington Post, including Chief of the Post's Moscow Bureau and Deputy Chief of Time's Germany Bureau. I have particular expertise in profiling urban areas in the U.S. and foreign countries. I have written about dozens of US cities and more than 80 foreign countries. Another strong interest: environmental issues. I have produced stories across the gamut of media -- print newspapers, magazines, Web publications, social media. I speak fluent Russian and German and have a working knowledge of Spanish and conversational French.
